When do we actually become …

… a “somebody”?

When you experience the exhibition Corbijn, Anton at Fotografiska, with its images of iconic individuals, we invite you — before the murder mystery begins — to reflect together on these questions:

  • Whether you want to or not — could you step into one of the iconic lives you encounter in this exhibition? Could you dress like them, behave entirely as they do, act like they act, see with their eyes, and be seen by their admirers? In short, could you live that iconic person’s life in every way?

  • Where is the boundary in that transformation, when you become more like the other person than yourself? Can your former self become less relevant to you than your new one?

  • When do we actually become … a “somebody”?

Also reflect on this:

  • If a well-known person DIES, do they always become gradually irrelevant as time passes, or can a person be kept relevant through an image — like the photographs in the exhibition?

  • Or could a dead person live on and remain relevant if YOU fully assume their identity and continue their life?

  • When does a person cease to be … a “somebody”?
